User Query: I have an old IMAP email account and want to move everything to Office 365. What’s the easiest way to transfer all my emails and attachments without losing my folders?
Blueyonder mailboxes run on Virgin Media’s mail platform, so the server settings carry the Virgin Media name.

The last row is important because your regular password may not work in a mail app. Virgin Media rejects your regular password inside a mail app. Sign in to My Virgin Media, open Account settings, then Account details, and generate an app password under Virgin Media Mail. Also check your free Google storage, since every attachment you bring across counts against it.
Google is shutting down POP email fetch from third-party accounts in Gmail. New setups will be blocked in the first quarter of 2026. Existing users can still make use of the feature until January 2027. There are two manual methods if you need to move Blueyonder email to Gmail without additional software.
Gmail mobile app. Adding Blueyonder here connects over IMAP. You can read and send from inside Gmail, but nothing is copied into your Gmail mailbox, so old messages stay on Virgin Media’s server.
Desktop mail app. Configure both accounts over IMAP and drag folders across. Attachments travel with their messages, on macOS and Windows alike. The costs:
Gmail’s own tools cost nothing and work well for light use. The gaps appear when you need an entire mailbox moved.
None of this matters much for a few folders. For a full mailbox, effort and error risk add up quickly.
To avoid the limitations of the manual methods discussed above, users can use the MsOutlookHelp IMAP Backup Tool. This tool allows you to migrate Blueyonder Email to Gmail easily. It can be used as a batch migration tool. It also allows you to filter emails, delete duplicates, and move attachments. You can also select specific folders. Users can review mailbox data and check migration reports to track the export Blueyonder data to Gmail. If you are planning to migrate IMAP emails to Microsoft 365 instead, read this guide on migrating IMAP to Office 365.

A Typical Scenario
A small Accounting firm needed to migrate Blueyonder Email to Gmail. They had an 8GB mailbox that they required to be migrated into Google Workspace. The owner used the MsOutlookHelp IMAP Backup Tool to select specific folders on their client’s account, filter emails by date, delete duplicates, and map the mailbox to Google Workspace with a JSON service account key. After migrating, they viewed the IMAP Migration Report.
The manual method to transfer Blueyonder Email to Gmail works for a few folders but requires configuring accounts and copying emails manually. The MsOutlookHelp IMAP Backup Tool offers folder selection, date range filtering, advanced email filters, duplicate removal, attachment handling, and migration reports. Users managing large mailboxes or emails with attachments can use these features to simplify the migration process and review the results before closing their old account. They can also test the trial version first and upgrade their license for full export.
Ans. Yes. The MsOutlookHelp IMAP Backup Tool maintains the folder structure during migration. You can select the required folders from the source tree, and the tool transfers the emails to Gmail while preserving the folder organization. The IMAP Migration Report lists processed and skipped items for verification.
Ans. Outlook is not used here. You can either use the Gmail app for sending and receiving emails, a desktop mail client using IMAP to manually copy your emails, or the migration tool, which will connect directly to the IMAP server.
Ans. Yes. The migration tool connects to the source and destination accounts directly, so you don’t need to configure a separate email client to move Blueyonder email into Gmail.
Ans. The manual method works on macOS with any IMAP-capable mail app. To migrate Blueyonder email to Gmail with the tool from a Mac, check the product page for current macOS availability first.
Ans. It depends on volume. A few folders are quick to copy by hand. For larger mailboxes or several accounts, a tool with filters, duplicate removal and reports is the more practical way to transfer Blueyonder data to Gmail.
Ans. Select IMAP Migration as the source and enter imap.virginmedia.com, port 993, your full Blueyonder address and an app password. That lets you export Blueyonder email to Gmail even though Blueyonder isn’t listed by name.
Ans. Common causes include not using the app password and using old Blueyonder server settings rather than Virgin Media settings, transfer limits, and Google storage issues. You should check these first if you’re exporting Blueyonder data to Gmail and the job is getting stuck.
